Who Will Grab the ‘2007 European Car Crown’?

The search for the best car in Europe is scheduled to end on the 13th day of November. The final battle for the ’2007 European Car Crown’ is made up of 8 contenders – Honda Civic, Volvo C30, Ford S-Max, Citroen C4 Picasso, Fiat Grande Punto, Opel Corsa, Peugeot 207 and Skoda Roomster. These cars are tested by several experts in the automotive world to gauge which of them is deserving of the most coveted car title in Europe. On said date, the impressive car will be crowned.

Usually, the final round of said competition is made up of 7 contenders. This year, it was increased to 8. The reason behind the extension is the organizer’s state of indecision regarding the unlucky one to be eradicated. To settle it, the organizers persuaded with the 8 vehicles. It can be recalled that at the beginning of the competition, there were 41 cars. However, the rest were slashed to retain the cream of the crop.

The European Car Crown competition dates back to 1964. Rover 2000 was then proclaimed the first car to win in said competition. Fiat, on one hand, has been crowned 8 times. It is closely followed by Renault with 6 winning. However, contenders like Honda, Volvo and Skoda have not tasted triumph in this particular car competition. But according to some automotive critics, Honda has now a better chance through its civic.

The 2007 Civic, according to the automaker, will not be having significant alterations. Honda will also introduce new Honda Civic Si Sedan, which will be given the powertrain setup of the Coupe. Volvo C30, on one hand, has entertained the concept of delivering a taste of chic and sporty car. In this regard, C30 was made more upbeat, youthful and stylish by modifying Volvo C70 parts. “From its inception, the Volvo C30 Project was focused on one primary demographic group: Young urbanites with accelerating careers and intensive, active lifestyles. Customer clinics allowed these people to voice their opinions and give their views on the car’s design and technical content,” says Fredrik Arp, President and CEO of Volvo Cars.

Santa Monica Car Accident Attorney’s Top Ten Reasons People Get Into Auto Accidents

1. They’re having a bad day.

2. Their horoscope said they would.

3. Their toaster burned out that morning.

4. Their computer crashed last night.

5. They didn’t get the memo.

6. They didn’t get any sleep last night.

7. Their dog growled at them this morning.

8. Their stocks went down for the forty-third day in a row.

9. Their boss didn’t like the last project they did.

10. Too many things have been going well lately.

Here are ten useful tips of advice from a car accident lawyer to follow if you have been in an accident. You can also learn more about how to handle a car accident in Santa Monica, or any city, by calling the Law Offices of R. Sebastian Gibson at any of the numbers which can be found on our website at http://www.SebastianGibsonLaw.com  and learning how we can assist you.

Obviously, if you have had an accident, and you are reading all of this advice, it may have been a few hours since the accident. However, if you ever have another accident, or if it’s only been a few hours since you were hurt, here’s what you should do from the start.

First, take a look around and determine if you or anyone, are hurt. If so, taking steps like trying to prevent further injury or loss of blood are the most important thing you can do. Even if some other driver caused you to be injured, it’s just good manners to help the other driver if they are hurt. They may even be so thankful that they admit their fault to you. The worst thing you can do is get angry or start a fight.

Second, make sure everyone is safe from being injured further. If you are in the middle of traffic, and you are dizzy, sit down away from traffic. If your vehicle is a traffic hazard and you have accident warning devices like flares or triangles, put them out on the road to warn other drivers and get away from the car. Let the police an other emergency personnel investigate the scene with the vehicles in place and move them more safely at a later point.

Third, call the police. Accident reports are extremely helpful if the police will do such a report. Let the police know you are injured immediately. Answer the police questions honestly. But if you are dazed or confused, let them know you need medical treatment and answer only what you feel sure about. Remember, your statements can and will be used against you if you admit fault, and it will be too late and too fishy to later say you didn’t know what you were saying at the scene. Police know that your best recollection is immediately after an accident.

Fourth, get the other driver’s information including their names, addresses, driver’s license numbers, make and model of their vehicles, license plate numbers, and their insurance company name and policy number. If there are witnesses, get their names, addresses and telephone numbers as well. If the other driver makes any admissions of fault, write those down as well.

Fifth, if you have a camera on your cell phone or in the car and you aren’t too injured, take some photos of the vehicles and the scene. If you can’t do it right away, do it after you are released from the hospital.

Sixth, if you are hurt, obtain medical treatment. Don’t decline the ambulance or hospital examination to save your insurance company money or to be stoic. Take your valuables out of your car if you can and get checked out at the hospital. If you are not hurt, don’t get treatment you don’t need. However, remember, after an accident, you may feel a rush of adrenaline that causes you to only start feeling symptoms of pain a few hours later. If you have a health plan that requires you to obtain permission first, call them and find out where you are allowed to seek treatment.

Seventh, call a good car accident attorney as soon as you have had your initial treatment, so the lawyer can gather other important evidence and prevent the insurance company from taking advantage of you and obtaining such things as recorded statements that you feel fine, when many of your symptoms have yet to manifest themselves. A good car accident attorney can save you from making a great deal of mistakes and can shoulder much of the hassle of knowing what to do about car repairs, car rentals, medical treatment, witness statements and the like. If you think you will save money by not having an attorney, think again. A good car accident lawyer can almost always obtain much higher settlements, obtain reductions of medical bills and insurance liens and prevent you from making costly mistakes. Also, most car accident lawyers advance costs of obtaining police reports, medical records and the like and are paid and reimbursed for these costs only out of any settlement.

Eight, you will need to report the accident to your insurance company, but since they will want to take a recorded statement from you, just like any other driver’s insurance company, it’s good advice to retain an attorney first. And if the other driver did not have insurance, remember that it is your own insurance company that will be your adversary. You will also need to report the accident to the Department of Motor Vehicles and your lawyer can give you the form for this.

Ninth, do not agree to settle your claim privately with the person at fault for the accident. This almost never works out to your advantage. Don’t agree not to call the police. Police reports that determine the fault for an accident are golden. Your agreement to not involve the police only affords an opportunity for the other driver to change his story and blame you when the police will no longer investigate the accident.

Tenth, don’t pay a traffic ticket without a fight if you weren’t at fault or agree to accept a small payment for your vehicle repairs without knowing that the amount will in fact cover the cost of all the repairs.

Bugatti Veyron: the Fastest Car on Course

By the end of last month, Bugatti Automobiles S.A.S, a Volkswagen AG subsidiary, has delivered 60 Bugatti Veyron 16.4s. The deliveries are deemed in excess of the intended production volume of the company.

In December 2003, the burden of managing Bugatti Automobiles S.A.S. went to Dr. Thomas Bscher, the new president of the company. Additionally, Dr. Wolfgang Schreiber was appointed as the technical director and manager of the Bugatti Engineering department. With such changes, the entire Bugatti project was then totally reassessed and a new schedule for the completion date of the Veyron was fixed. The objectives established have all been achieved since then.

The delivery of the Bugatti Veyron 16.4 started in March last year after its production in Alsatian Molsheim at the end of 2005. For the first production year, Bugatti Automobiles S.A.S. has reached the planned 50 units.

Production of the super sports car has been limited to a maximum of 300 units. The number of Veyron units for the first production year has amounted to 50 vehicles, as previously set. At present, the automaker is already able to increase the annual production volume and thus is able to lessen the waiting time for customers.

“In 2007 we are planning to increase the production of the Bugatti Veyron,” said Bscher at the International Geneva Motor Show, “because the order entry for the Veyron is getting close to a 140 and we wouldn’t want our customers to have to wait longer for their Bugatti.”

Bscher continued, “It is not unexpected that most of the orders come from the US; traditionally the most important market for luxury vehicles. Thirty percent of the 140 contracts received up to now with a down payment of EUR 300,000, which is the condition for the production of the vehicle to start, come from the United States. This means that that is where – on a country basis – up to now most of the Bugatti Veyron have been delivered.”

In Europe, majority of the demand for the super sports car come from Germany and England and these countries are two of the most important markets for luxury cars outside the United States. Other European countries that showed interest in purchasing the Veyron include France, Monaco, Benelux, Austria, Italy, Spain and Switzerland. The Bugatti Veyron has also wowed the Middle East countries. Deliveries have also been made to the Arab countries.

Within a year, a network of Bugatti sales and service partners has been developed. So far, the network covers 26 locations. Consistent with the sales figures, the United States is also top in this area with nine contact points. Other points include five on the west coast, one in Florida and the traditional areas in the east with three partners sharing the responsibility.

The Bugatti Veyron 16.4 is currently the fastest car in the world with a top speed of over 400 km/h. The Veyron is also the most powerful and expensive street-legal production car. The Veyron is equipped with a W16 engine, which is composed of 16 cylinders in four banks of four cylinders. It is the equivalent of two narrow-angle V8 engines mated in a “W” configuration. Each cylinder has four valves, for a total of 64. However, the narrow V8 configuration allows two camshafts to drive two banks of cylinders so only four camshafts are required. The engine of the Veyron is supported by four turbochargers.

How much does a Veyron cost? The base price of the car is a €1,127,210 that when converted equals £757,359 or $1,440,800! The price could drill a hole in the pocket even to some well-offs.

The Bugatti Veyron comes with a fabulous appeal, a distinctive bumper, an ulta-powerful engine, and other remarkable auto parts accessories. The Veyron is made an international car to let other aficionados savor its impressive performance, sophisticated parts and extraordinary drive feel. It imbibes Bugatti’s philosophy – nothing is too expensive, nothing is too beautiful.

How to Wash Your Used Car to Renew Beauty and Value

When many people buy a used car, they are often able to find imperfection or the car is dirty, so this is when learning to detail and wash your used car to restore beauty and value is important.

How to Detail and Wash Your Used Car to Restore Beauty and Value

After purchasing a used car, many people just park it and learn to live with the imperfections of the body. However, by following this simple guide, you’ll be able to bring new life to the look of your car, and make it look as close to new as possible, immediately increasing its value tremendously.

Exterior Soap and Rinse

The first thing to do is thoroughly wash and rinse the car. The basic tools you need include the following:

  • A bucket
  • Sponge or Car-Washing Mit
  • Semi firm car-washing brush
  • Extra-soft cotton towels or microfiber towels
  • Car washing soap (NOT dish detergent!)
  • 0000 steel wool and glass cleaner

While simply washing a car seems, to most people, to be a very simple project, there are actually a number of precautions you need to take. The art and science of the detailing industry comes from methods to thoroughly wash the surface of a car without causing scratches. Unfortunately, scratching the surface of a car is extremely easy. All it takes is a single dirt particle under a washing mit to lay a fine scratch on your hood or door. Even an overly-strong stream of water from your hose can cause dirt particles on your car to scratch it. Simple rule of thumb – be gentle.

To wash your car correctly, follow these steps:

1. Thoroughly rinse the car with a gentle stream of water. Some professional detailers use a hose with the nozzle removed and just allow the water to flow out at its natural rate.

2. In the bucket, fill with warm water and car wash soap. Use the amount of soap advised in the instructions on the bottle.

3. Wash the car in sections and immediately remove the soap. If you wash the whole car and then rinse, the part of the car you started on will dry with a soapy residue. Instead, wash the roof, then immediately rinse it. Wash one side, rinse. Wash the hood, rinse, etc. Never allow time for a film to develop or you’ll ultimately lose some of that final glow. If the bucket gets down to 1/3rd of the water left, empty it, rinse it out, and refill with more soap and water.

4. When washing particularly dirty, bug-encrusted areas, don’t give up. Use 0000 steel wool and glass cleaner on any class or metal that has bugs pasted to it. On painted surfaces, just keep using warm soapy water and you’ll get all of the grime off – be patient!

5. When you’re through, rinse the entire car once again, and pay close attention to small nooks and crannies where soap can hide. Want a super-clean and shiny car? Then repeat steps 3 and 4 one more time.

6. Time to dry your car! Take your soft cotton towel (which you’ve been very careful to keep extra clean and free of any dirt particles) and fold it into a square. Rub down all surfaces of the exterior of your car to remove every trace of water.

Touch Up Paint Scratches

Used cars have scratched paint. It’s a fact of life. If you’ve been able to find a used car without one, consider it a miracle. There are some great products from 3M that help to remove or hide scratches (aside from buying touch-up paint from your dealer and carefully applying evenly). Scratch removal or cover-up products include Finesse It, Swirl Mark Remover, Perfect It, Imperial Hand Glaze. Some are more abrasive than others, so read the instructions carefully.

Polish Glass and Lights

If the headlights are older and yellowed, you may need to wet down the headlights and use 800 grit sand paper to wet sand the material off the lamp. Make sure to have clean water with a sponge in it handy so that you can squeeze water onto the surface to keep the sandpaper clean and unclogged. Once the foggy color is more white, use 1500 grit paper and wet sand some more to sand out the remaining scratches. Finally rinse and then move on to the next step – polishing to remove the foggy coloring.

3M makes good plastic polish as well. Apply a small amount to a clean polishing cloth and apply it to the headlight. Some professional detailers believe in circular polishing, others believe in straight-line. Do whatever appears to work best for you. When you’re finished polishing according to the instructions on the bottle, the lamp will be clear and shiny.

Apply Wax to Protect Your Paint

Time to wax! Make sure to research which wax product is best for you. Some will last longer than others, while some products are far easier to apply. I always go for ease of use, but often those products won’t last quite as long. Using microfiber towels, apply polish to your entire car in careful front to back motions on horizontal panels, and up and down motions on vertical panels. Rub softly so that you don’t cause any damage to your paint. Make sure to follow the instructions on the wax product carefully to obtain the highest quality shine for your efforts.

Gloss Up Your Wheels

Over time, wheels can become faded and dusty-looking. There are a number of products created for wheel polishing, but the best ones are spray-on products that you apply evenly to the outer surface of the wheel. It applies as a foam, and as it dries, it renews the shine and color to old faded wheels. Make sure to do this on gravel, because when these products drip onto a tar driveway or concrete garage floor, they can cause staining.

Should I Convert My Car to Run on Ecogas?

If you are considering converting your car to run on EcoGas then it can be very frightening and stressful at first. Although saving the environment is important, saving money is much more important to most people, however there are a number of questions that you will need to find answers to first.

Firstly you might want to know exactly how much money you will save by converting your car to EcoGas. This will depend on the amount of fuel your truck or car runs on at the moment; LPG is much cheaper than petrol and diesel and should stay that way for a long time.

Although LPG is cheaper than traditional fuels you will have to think about how much it will cost to convert your truck to run on LPG . The actual costs will depend mainly on the type, size and mileage of car you are converting. Although this can seem like a very expensive project, you should compare it to the amount of money you can save. Work out how long it will take for you to cover the costs of your conversion, will it be years or months?

Once you’ve worked out how long it will take to recover the money you spend on the conversion you should also work out how long you will want to keep the car for. You can then decide whether an LPG system is beneficial to you.

You might also want to know whether your car can be converted to run on LPG, while LPG is a very common alternative fuel it’s not suitable for every car. However technology is improving each and every day, which now means it is possible to convert a diesel truck to run on LPG .

If you are deciding whether you should convert your car to run on EcoGas then it’s a good idea to make sure you know exactly what you are letting yourself in for! The only real disadvantage of these systems are the installation costs, however over time you should be able to recover these costs.

LPG is a really good way to make your truck less of a problem to the environment while also saving you money at the same time. Saving money is of course what most people are interested in doing. It’s fantastic that LPG has very few disadvantages. When installing LPG systems it is important to go to only recognized installers, as these systems can be dangerous if they are not installed correctly. It’s also a good idea to get at least three different quotes to make sure that you are paying a fair price. Not all LPG systems are the same, so it’s a good idea to compare a few different options to make sure you’re getting everything that you require.

When researching LPG options the internet is your friend, there are hundreds of sites devoted to this wonderful fuel which can help to make your decision for you!

Electric Car Motor Conversion – DIY Electric Vehicle Conversion

Most people nowadays are considering doing an electric car motor conversion. This is because of the rising fuel prices that inflated their car gasoline expense bill. With most household having more than one car, gasoline expenses have become a major issue. Unfortunately, sending a car to a professional garage to be retrofitted into an Electric Vehicle (EV) will cost more than $4000. The investment is too high for most car owners. An alternative is to do an electric car motor conversion via a Do It Yourself (DIY) project from home.

To initiate a DIY electric car conversion project from home is not a difficult process. As long as you have the necessary tools and workspace, you can do the retrofitting yourself. What you will need is a good EV conversion guide to assist you.

The idea of electric vehicle conversion is to replace the internal combustion engine with an electric motor. Without the engine, all its associated components such as gas tank, fuel line and radiator is also removed. This will create a lot of free space where a batteries rack can be installed. A series of lead acid batteries will supply the power to the electric motor. To control the speed of the EV, a variable resistant is attached between the batteries and the electric motor. It will act as the accelerator paddle of the car.

To retrofit a car to run on electric is definitely cost effective. If is even cheaper if you can spend some time sourcing for second hand electric motor and batteries. With gasoline prices expected to go higher, any solution that can cut fuel cost would be a blessing.

How I Sold My Teachers Used Car in Less Than Two Hours!

Class Project

Marketing teachers have always been dynamic, which is probably why I enjoy my marketing courses so much in school. One teacher in particular stands out to me, he made a big deal of utilizing real life examples to demonstrate his curriculum. Generally searing the concept into our ripe minds. His most recent brainstorm came last week when he told the class that whoever could sell his used car the fastest and for the most money would be excused from the midterm. This was not a ‘sell a used car’ lesson, this was a ‘market value’ lesson.

Everyone was game for the task and ready to get started, but there was just one question left to ask; what was the car and where was the car? The car was in the parking lot, and by the looks of it had been there a while, it was a ratty old Honda Accord that had seen better days. Everyone cringed as they saw it, but then the look of steely determination took over most faces, the idea of skipping a hefty midterm high in everyone’s minds.

Method Options

This class met twice a week for two hours both times, he gave us this assignment at the beginning of the class period and told us to research our options and the market value of the vehicle, and to have something to show him by the end of the class period. Everyone went to work right away, some of the guys even borrowed a hose from maintenance and went to town washing the Accord in the hopes of raising its value.

I took another route, I jotted down all of the information about the vehicle, then I went directly to the computer lab. I had a secret weapon, the fastest way to sell a car is to go online. My sister had just sold her car to an online service, and had raved about how easy it had been.

Online Solution to a Real Life Problem

I went to their website and filled out their brief online form, which allowed the car to start accumulating bids right away. Then I called their 800 number to cover all my bases. The woman who answered the phone was very helpful and when I explained the project to her she was eager to help me win.

She said it was lucky I called when I did because they had an appraiser near the school who would be finished with his appointment shortly. She phoned him and asked him to come see my teachers Accord, sure enough he appeared in the parking lot 15 minutes later.

No Midterm For Me

My fellow students didn’t know what hit them. I called my teacher out to the parking lot and less than half an hour later he had cash in his hand for his ratty old Honda. Not only did I eliminate one midterm off my schedule, but I earned the respect of a teacher I respected.
